Clear Replication History Frequently Asked Questions

1. Question:
Why do we need to clear replication history?

Answer:
You may want to clear a local replica database's replication history if you think the replica doesn't contain all the documents it should or if the database's replication history is out of sync with other replicas (such as the server replica).

In this case, you can clear 'Replication History' in your Database in order to force a new syncronisation of all documents on the next replication.

2. Question:
How can I clear replication history in Lotus Notes?

Answer:
You will need to open your database in Lotus Notes and then you can clear replication history by following these steps:

1. Open the Lotus Notes Database (This can also be a Notes Mail File Database)

2. Select from the top menu File - Database - Properties

3. The Database Dialogue box will appear (as shown in the below). Please click on the button 'Replication History'

4. A new Window will pop-up, then please click 'Clear All'. This will clear all database replication history.

5. Click Done and then close the Database Properties dialogue box.

6. Proceed to replicate this database with the server as normal (receive mail as normal if this database is a mail database).

The next time your local notes database replicates with the server (after clearing replication history) the replication will take longer than usual. This is because it will re-compare each document in the local replica with the server replica to ensure full syncronisation between them.
If you continue to have problems please try to Compaq your local database, see our Compaq FAQ on how to do this.
